By downloading, installing, or using the Meridian app ("Meridian," the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
These Terms constitute a legal agreement between you and the Meridian team, the developer of Meridian. "We," "us," and "our" refer to the Meridian team.

Meridian is a personal travel journal application for iOS. It allows you to pin destinations on a world map, log places you have visited, write notes, add photos, plan future trips, and optionally share travel content with other people.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time. We will endeavour to give reasonable notice of significant changes where possible.

To use Meridian, you must create an account. You can sign in with email, Apple, or Google. You are responsible for:
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this age requirement.
You may delete your account at any time from the Profile section of the app. Deletion is permanent and irreversible.

During our beta period, Meridian is free to use. We will notify users in advance before any paid access requirement takes effect.
Meridian Pro is an auto-renewing subscription that unlocks additional features. The current plan is:
If a free trial is offered, it begins on the date you subscribe. Your payment method will be charged at the end of the trial period unless you cancel before it ends.
All billing is handled by Apple through the App Store. Your Apple ID account will be charged upon confirmation of purchase and at each renewal. We do not directly handle payment information.
You can cancel your subscription at any time through your iOS device settings: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Cancellation stops future renewals but does not provide a refund for the current billing period. You will retain access to Pro features until the end of the paid period.
Refund requests are handled by Apple in accordance with their App Store policies. We do not process refunds directly. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.
We may change subscription prices from time to time. Apple will notify you before any price change takes effect, and your continued subscription will constitute acceptance of the new price.

Meridian allows you to create, upload, and store content including notes, photos, and travel data ("Your Content"). You retain full ownership of Your Content.
By using Meridian, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and display Your Content solely for the purpose of operating the Service for you. We do not claim any ownership over Your Content, and we do not use it for any purpose other than providing the Service.
You are responsible for ensuring that Your Content does not:
We do not actively monitor Your Content, but we reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms.

You agree not to use Meridian to:
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

Meridian allows you to share travel content with other people via a link. When you share content:
We are not liable for how recipients use content you choose to share with them.

Meridian, including its design, code, branding, map styles, and all content we have created, is our intellectual property and is protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
Nothing in these Terms grants you a right to use our name, logo, or trademarks without our prior written permission.

Meridian uses third-party services including Supabase, PowerSync, Mapbox, Google Places, and RevenueCat to operate. Your use of the Service is also subject to the terms and privacy policies of these providers where applicable. We are not responsible for the practices or content of third-party services.
The app integrates with Apple's in-app purchase system. Any transactions are governed by Apple's Terms of Service.

Meridian is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. We do not warrant the accuracy or completeness of any content within the Service.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of the above exclusions may not apply to you.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of profits, or loss of goodwill, arising from or in connection with your use of or inability to use the Service.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $10 USD, whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on liability for certain types of damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.

You may stop using Meridian and delete your account at any time.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at our discretion if we determine that you have violated these Terms, or if we are required to do so by law. In the event of termination for cause, we are not obligated to provide a refund.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 5, 8, 10, 11, and 13) will survive.

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the state of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service that cannot be resolved informally will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in California.
If you are a consumer in the European Union, you may also benefit from any mandatory provisions of the law of the country in which you are resident.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we will notify you within the app. Continued use of the Service after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
